  1. Out of my Mind- Sharon Draper

This book is absolutely incredible!! It gives you an incite into the life of a girl with cerebral palsy. Melody, who has cerebral palsy, cannot speak or walk. Despite this, she is not defeated, and her personality and smarts shine throughout this book. It is written in first person, from Melody’s point of view. A common misconception is people with disabilities simply do not have thoughts and opinions. However, this book shows that even though on the outside, they may be different; on the inside, they are just like you and me. For anyone looking for a life-changing book, you’ve found it.

Age Range: 10-13 ( that’s not to say adults can’t read it too :-))
